For the industry it is necessary to collect, process, and transmit a
large quantity of conventional data and multimedia data for various
reasons. Therefore there is an urgent need for systematic methods of
information processing, and the sensible use of the data for business
purposes. And furthermore the procedures in a company have to be designed
in the form of business processes in order to be carried out efficiently
with the help of information technology. |

None of the ‘conventional’ degree courses provides the graduates
with the qualifications they need for this job description. That is why an
interdisciplinary degree like ‘Business Information Systems’ is
indispensable. |

Due to the ideal combination of business studies and computer
science, the Bachelor’s degree course ‘Business Information Systems’
provides the essential qualification for this interdisciplinary
occupational field. The Ulm University of Applied Sciences offers this
course in co-operation with the Neu-Ulm University. Each university is in
charge of the courses it specialises in, i.e. the Ulm University of
Applied Sciences teaches Computer Science courses and the Neu-Ulm
University teaches business studies. The universities are only a few
kilometres apart, and easy to reach with public transport. |
