At the Institute of Radiation Measurement the principles of
radioactivity, radiation measurement and radiation protection are conveyed
in lab experiments carried out in small groups. The nuclear reactor SUR 100
also belongs to the institute, it has a maximum power output of 1 W, and
enables the students to carry out nuclear technology experiments. |

Modern gamma spectrometers are also available at the laboratory and
allow the students to measure the radioactivity of solid and liquid samples,
and to determine the radon concentration in the air. In cooperation with the
industry and other universities the institute researches measures to lower
the radioactivity in the environment and in buildings. |
