The Institute of Communication Technology (IKT) supports teaching and research in the area of electronics, digital technology, microelectronics, communications engineering, electromagnetic compatibility (EMV), and digital media. Furthermore it is involved with training and additional qualifications, application-oriented research and user support regarding communication networks and services, and multimedia applications.

An EMC measurement chamber, computer pools for VLSI-design, software engineering, network management, and an optical motion capture system for 3D-animations are available at the institute.
