The Institute of Production Engineering and Materials Testing (IFW) combines the fields of Production Engineering and Materials Engineering. Production Engineering deals with the economical production of components, formed from certain materials and based on given geometric specifications, followed by assembling the products, and also the use of manufacturing machines. This is what the students will be taught at the institute’s practice-oriented courses.

Materials Engineering deals with materials and their standards in theory and practice. A special focus lies on the industrial production, application and testing. In the demonstration laboratory course the students will learn everything about the proceedings of materials testing, and in the practiceoriented laboratory courses they have the possibility to carry out their own experiments.
