Industrial Innovation





Learning objectives
Seminar participants will gain a deeper understanding of industrial innovation, technology and society. At the same time they will improve their verbal and written presentation skills in English through discussion, oral presentations, teamwork, and preparing written reports. Participants can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning. Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.

Content


Historical background.


General aspects of industrial innovation: measuring research and development, product management, basic research, models of innovation.


Innovation in the western industrialised countries: international comparisons of research and development, large-scale technologies, technology and ethics.


Technology and developing countries.




This seminar corresponds to level C1 of the Common European Framework.
