Lecture
System Theory

Learning objectives
The knowledge acquired in the subjects mathematics and physics can be applied to the defining of engineer-specific methods and skills. Procedures and methods for the description and representation of signals and dynamic systems are included. The fundamentals of modelling and simulation as engineer-specific ways of working will be mastered. The basics for applying subjects such as signal processing and control theory are included.

Content

Introduction (systems and signals)

Signals: Stationary and transient signals, Fourier representation of signals, Fourier Transform

Time Continuous Systems: Convolution integral, frequency response and transfer function, Bode plot, differential equations, poles and Eigenvalues

system stability, application examples

Time Discrete Systems: Sample-and-Hold model, frequency response and z-Transform, difference equation
