Residence permit

Within one week after your arrival in Ulm you must at the residents’ registration office (Einwohnermeldeamt) - even if you will only stay in the country temporarily.

The following documents are required for registration:



Registration form (available at the International Office)


Your identity card or passport


Your certificate of matriculation


2 passport photos


A proof of financial support: either as a stipend or a notarially certified confirmation from your parents.


If you have applied for and received a visa in your home country, you will have to present the visa at the residents’ registration office and apply for a residence permit (Aufenthaltsgenehmigung).
