Foreign Students

Foreign students who graduated with the German Abitur or the fachgebundene Hochschulreife can apply directly with the registrar’s office (Allgemeines Studentensekretariat) at Ulm University. Application forms are available at the registrar’s office and on our website.

Foreign students who acquired their qualification abroad – this also includes EU residents - and who are planning to apply with a university / university of applied sciences in Baden-Württemberg, first have to hand in their certificates at the Ausländer-Studienkolleg in Konstanz – ASK (Institute for International Students at the University of Applied Sciences Konstanz)

The Institute for International Students (ASK) is the main student advice centre in Baden-Württemberg for international students who want to apply with a German university. At the ASK you will receive the assessment exam application form ‘Zulassungsantrag für die Feststellungsprüfung’ and any information you need regarding your application and the funding of your studies.

Please note: the ASK is not involved in the admission procedure for a place of study.

In case you need to take the assessment exam (Feststellungsprüfung), the ASK offers a one-year foundation course in order to prepare you for the exam.

If you have already taken your Feststellungsprüfung (assessment exam) in another federal state of Germany, you will still have to apply with the ASK.

After the ASK confirmed that you are eligible to apply for a degree at a university in Baden-Württemberg, you can hand in your application at Ulm University.

The application deadline is the

January for the summer semester and the

July for the winter semester of each year.

For Chinese students the application procedure is different:
